A Rich History

From the beginning, Martin Luther Manor has thrived on gifts of time, love, and donations from dedicated ladies and gentlemen of the Auxiliary.

“Even the full minutes of the meetings of the Martin Luther Manor… Auxiliary could not portray an adequate story of the work [they] have done.  Wherever one looks, one can see the touch of their hands.  On every occasion of importance their kind assistance has been rendered.  Daily they lend a willing hand in the operation of the Home.  They… are constantly on the alert and eager to find ways by which they may be more helpful… Who but our Heavenly Father can know of the prayers they have offered and the love their hearts have outpoured.”
-Dr. Paul Luther Wetzler, February 6, 1962

The Charter meeting, held May 2, 1960 at Salem Church, brought 1,629 members and more than $5,000.00 in contributions.  Since that time, the Auxiliary has donated nearly $400,000.00 and at least as many hours of service.  Always changing but never losing sight of their mission, goals and commitment to residents, they have enriched lives for more than 45 years in tangible and lasting ways.  The Auxiliary is now preparing to move on to the next chapter.  By seeking nonprofit status of their own, they will be able to remain independent in providing comforting enhancements for residents as they have since their founding.  The Auxiliary is now also accepting donations and accounting for Spiritual Care funds.
